Tai Chi and Qigong are mind-body practices designed to cultivate life force energy, or “Qi.” Consisting of fluid, gentle movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo, they are a powerfully holistic approach to better health. Tai Chi cand Qigong can be practiced almost anywhere and are a suitable form of exercise for just about anyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Benefits include improved strength and balance, stress relief, flexibility, better organ function, and improved concentration. Plus, it’s fun and easy to learn!
Intermediate Yang Style Tai Chi and Qigong 6-week course (Intermediate Level)
Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm

This ongoing Intermediate class focuses on refining and deepening practice of the Yang style 24 Forms -- the most well-known and popular Tai Chi set. Various other Tai Chi and Qigong practices will also be included. The class is intermediate level and suitable if you are already somewhat familiar with the Yang Style 24 forms.
Qi Gong 4 week course (All Levels)
Thursdays 2-3pm

Qigong is an ancient and effective Chinese mind/body practice that incorporates physical movement, breathing techniques and mental focus. Everyone can do qigong regardless of level of strength or fitness. It can be done standing or seated.
In this class we will practice several styles of the soft internal forms of Qigong. These forms are characterized by gentle, circular and rhythmic movements that have been shown to reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, increase immunity, and cleanse and heal the body. No previous experience is required - just follow along with the instructor!
No mat or other equipment is required. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to class.

Marianne is CoDirector of the Silver Lotus Training Institute in Rehoboth Beach, where she leads programs in Tai Chi for Health, as well as other tai chi and qigong classes, workshops, and instructor trainings. She also is a Master Trainer with the international Tai Chi for Health Institute, authorized to train and certify instructors in the TCHI programs. She is a professional member of the National Qigong Association and has served on the Board and Executive Committee of the United States Tai Chi Community. Marianne trained yoga instructors for many years before discovering the practice of tai chi in the early 2000’s. Now she focuses primarily on tai chi and qigong, specializing in modifying practices to be suitable and safe for anyone. A special love is tai chi sword forms.
Marianne recently retired from her job as Director of Estuary Science and Restoration for the nonprofit organization Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and is delighted to be free now to teach more tai chi! Other passions include hiking, birding, kayaking, cats, reading, and gardening.
